[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Korea Environment Institute announced that it would hold the opening ceremony of the North Korea Environmental Information Center on June 3.

The North Korea Environmental Information Center was established in response to the changes in domestic and international circumstances surrounding the Korean peninsula to establish a stable and sustainable environment for North Korea's environment and research on inter-Korean environmental cooperation for the preservation of the environment and the development of policies on sustainable development on the Korean Peninsula.

The center will conduct research on environmental conservation and sustainable development of the Korean Peninsula by collecting and analyzing information on North Korea's environmental conditions, establishing a cooperative network at home and abroad, providing policy and academic data on inter-Korean environmental cooperation and supporting related decision-making.

It will also serve as a hub for environmental and inter-Korean environmental cooperation through the functions of information services for providing reliable information on the North's environmental conditions and building networks, as well as policy services for North Korea's environmental research and inter-Korean environmental cooperation.
