[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Ministry of Environment will announce the legislation of amendments to the Clean Air Conservation Act and the Enforcement Rules for 40 days from December 11. 

The amendment stipulates that the results of measurement of Tele-monitoring System (TMS) be disclosed in real time, and includes the reinforcement of air pollutant emission standards for construction and agricultural machinery to the EU level. 

Following the revision of the enforcement rules, the government plans to drastically toughen measurement-related regulations to crack down on the manipulation of measurement results. 

The air pollutant emission standards for construction and agricultural machinery, which are newly manufactured and imported in Korea, will be strengthened to the latest EU standards. 

The strengthened standards will be applied to construction machinery from December 2020 and agricultural machinery from July 2021.  

“The amendment has many important legislations for improving the air environment, including the realization of the people's right to know through the release of measurement data, support for voluntary reduction workplaces, and severe punishment for measurement manipulation,” said an official from the Ministry of Environment.
